Ashburton Cricket Club.

A meeting of the Ashburton Cricket Club Match Committee was held on Monday evening, when it was decided to write to th 9 following clubs to ask them to arrange for matches to be held on the Ashburton Domain ground, viz.—St Albans, Prebbleton, Lancaster Park, Hinds, Geraldine, Temuka, and Timaru, The Akaroa Cricket Association was informed that their offer to play a match, in Christ-r church would be accepted for some Wednesday after October 25 next—the Akaroa Cricket .Association to arrange for a ground. The Temuka Club were asked to play here on October 25 next, and the Longbeach Cricket Club has been asked to arrange for a match to be played at Longbeach, The following trophies arel to be played for this season in matches with clubs resident. |}ye miles ou,t of Ashburton—Mr SalekV cup, conditions as stated by Mr Salek ; Mr Lane's bat for the beat batting average for the season ; Dr Tweed's bat for the highest individual score ; Dr Tweed's ball for the highest bowling average j the Mayor's ball for the second highest bowling average. It was decided to commence practice on Friday, September 29, at 4 p.m., and to play tfye opening match on Wednesday, Qcto-. ber 4—Married V Single—to commence at 2 p.m. The ground is being put in order by Mr Dalton, and promises to be in first class order by the opening of the eeason.
