Mr Bowen moved that the Council object to cartain forest lands in Otigo and Wellington Provincial Districts, as shown by certain returns laid oa the table, being withdrawn for settlement or other purposes. H<s objected to forests being destroyed. After discussion, the debate was adjourned. PUBLIC DOMAINS BILL. On tbe question of going into Committee on the Public Domains Act Amendment Bill, Dr Pollen moved as an amendment that the recommendation of the Waste Lands Committed, that the Bill do not proceed, be agreed to. The amendment was lost on the casting, vote of the Speaner. The Bill was committed pro forma t and reported with leave to sib again. HARBOR ENDOWMENT BILL. The Mangawhai Harbor Endowment Reserve* Bill was committed and reported wish verba} amendments, and was then passed. TIMBER TLOXTING BILL. The Timber Floating Amendment Bill was slightly amended in Committee. Clause 2, providing that if a dispute has arisen, the damages may be settled by arbitration, was struck out. The Council adjourned till next day.
