A Woman Blade a Pastor.
Mrs. Emily C. Woodruff of Little Valley, N. V., has been ordained as pastor of the Congregational church of that place. She has the honor of being the third woman ever ordained by that denomination in the state. She has been conducting services there ever since the death of her husband some months ago.
Skilled work girls in France are much better off than those in 6tores. Statistics presented at the corigres feministe by Mme. Vincent a few days ago show that out of 10,352,000 artisans in France there are 4,415,000 women, who receive in wages or dividends nearly $500,000,000 a year.
A woman sanitary engineer has been chosen to represent the English women at the congress of hygiene. She is a woman of versatile genius, a possessor of certificates of art, music, hygiene, divinity, physiology and sanitary science.
It is understood that the dowager Duchess of Sutherland will receive the rentals of the Florida estates, estimated at $250,000 to $300,000. The lato duke's will is to be proved shortly. It will dispose of enormous property.
In French millinery full ostrich feathers are prominent trimmings, and drooping brims of lace are' Been upon handsome dress hats. Groups of small brilliant flowers are usually seen above these brims, or else small tips.
The very newest stationery is of dead white linen, with a tiny monogram in silver or some faint tone. Cream tints, heliotrope, blue and yellow, have all had their day, and the dead white is the essentially correct tone.
A prominent woman doctor of Birmingham goes her rounds on a tricycle in. a neat and pleasing dress equally suited for the sickroom or the saddle. In Boston suburbs women go calling and shopping on safeties.
Miss Louise Aldrich Blake of England has achieved the highest distinction as a student in medicine ever won by a woman. She has taken a "double first" in the examinations at the London university.
