Mr Smith, the American Consul at Quebec, m his official reporfe to. hit Government, de%crib,ec| the French Cain^diaiis as. « unclean and believing m the holiness of dirt." In revenge the French smashed the windows of his residence. The American Government are enquiring into the matter.
