Two seamen, William Trimin and Hte*; beet Cornforth, detected by a Customs officer smuggling tobacco from the steamer Tekoa, were fined £2 2s 6d each and the tobacco forfeited. Sir G. M. O'Rorke has promised to decide at once whether he will contest the Waikato electorate. At 2.30 this afternoon a "Gazette' was issued formally proroguing Parliament until Thursday, December 24. Mr G. F. Marsden, fourth officer of the s.s.
