The third round of the Ashburton Lawn Tennis tournament was played off on Thursday last, when E, B. Simpson (scratch), beat H. Curtis (receiving 25), by four strokes. The final between H. Weston, (scratch), and Mr Simpson (scratch), took place on Saturday afternoon, resulting in a win for the latter by 10 strokes. There was a large attendance on the ground, and afternoon tea was provided by Mesdames Kempthome, Makeig Crisp, and Steward, whose, task was by no means light. The Ladies Champion Cup won by Miss Rees, decorated the tea table and we hope it may long remain in Ashburton.
