THE CABLE GUARANTEE.
Sydnky, December 3. The "Herald" considers.that the proposal of the South Australian Government m connection with the reduction m the cable rates is both infraternal and ungracious. The NewZealand Government pleaded poverty as an excuse for standing out, and said they were m severe trials from the commercial depiession that had lately existed m the colony. The " Hearld " thinks that the reason given by the New Zealand Government cannot but be respected, and says t..at the good feeling prevailing between the colonies concerned m the guarantee has evidently prompted Government to take an unfair advantage of guarantors.
