A meeting of the Trades and Labor Council was held last night, when candidates for support at the elections In oon junction with the Radical Reform League and Industrial Asaoaiatlon were seleoted. It is Intended to hold a meeting of dolegatm of the three asaoolations, when a I definite selection of candidates will be | made. Chbistohuroh, August 20. Mr S. Boreham, who is opposing Mr Lanoe for Cheviot, reoelred a vote of thank* and confidence last night. Christohoroh, August 22. Mr S, P. Andrews is mentioned as a probable candidate for Sydenham Woodtilms, August 22. Mr Baker addressed the electors on Saturday night. He advocates retrenchment In the departments ; reduction of members and honorarium; oor solid a tion of laod lawß ; abolition of land board ; a land and and income tax, moderate borrowing to oomplete the trunk line etc. He received a vote of thanks.
