THE RHODES COMPENSATION CASE.
(Correspondent Presß ) Another nice little compensation oase against the Government was begun to day (23rd Inst.) This is a caße m whioh the trustees of Rhodes' estate and the trustees cf Mrs Rhodes are olaiming £10,000 as compensation for land taken by the Government. The amount is made op as follows;— 9 aores 2 roods 39 perobes taken for tbe purpose of the Wellington and Manawatu Railway, £6000, £3000 by the trustees of the Rhodes' estate for the fee simple and £3COO by Mrs Rhodes for ber life interest ; 4 aores 3 roods 27 perches taken ior the purpoieß of the Wellin" ton and Manawatu Railway Company, £1500, £1000 by the trusts of the Rhode >' estate for the fee simple and £500 by Mrs Rhodes' trustees for her life interest ; 2 acrn 1 rood 5 perches taken for the purpose of the Kaiwarra Battery, £ICOO claimed by the trustees of Rhodes estate ; 2 roods Xi perches, taken for the purpose of the Kaiwarra Battery, £1500 claimed by the trustees of the Rhodes' estate and the tru».ees of Mrs Rhodes
