MILK FOR DAIRY FACTORIES.

At the annual meeting of the Waireka Dairy Factory Company, held on Monday ftt Cato Valley near Oamaiu, Mr Barr mentioned that the directors nad agreed to pay for milk at the following ect'e : Under 8 per cent of cream to be rejected; from 8 and under 9, 3fcd per 11 lbs ; over 9 and under 12. 4d cant and over, 4d per lOlbs. Mr M’-Naughton thought there should be one price only for milk. Mr Barr explained that the plan propose! was suggested for the purpose of keeping up the quali'y of the milk. Mr Allan thought it quite right that the milk should be paid for according to quality. Mr Williams approved of the principle, only he thought it would be difficult to carry the arrangement out. Mr M'Gregbr proposed that all milk yielding over 8 per cent up to 12 per cent of cream be paid fur at 4i per 111 b, and all over 12 par cant at 41 per lOlba This appeared to accord with the general opinion of thoee present, and was agreed to as a recommendation to the iteming directors. Mr M'Pherson, however, i bight that if anyone could produce milk yielding op to 15 per they w< aid certainly be entitled to be proportionately paid for it. Mr Barr said the manager, Mr Sawyers, would give them any information required as to the perce -jtage. Mr Sawyers, manager cf the factory, slated that milk had been set t to the factory as low as 7 per cent, and some over 15 per cent In answer to an inquiry he stated that he thought the average would be about 10 per cant.
