Great interest centred to-day on the I s.s. Triumph, en toute for Kimberly, I which arrived from Lyttleton yos'erday, having on board 150 passengers aad 130 horses, all of the latter being in good condition. The Triumph was joined hero by another ninety-seven passengers, twenty of whom belong to Wellington and the rest to Auckland, Napier, Nelson, Marlborough, and cannery distri t>, and they shipped forty horses. The Tiiumch takes in all 247 passengers, and 170 j horses. The scene at the whrrf during the forenoon was an unuiu .lly bury one. At 3 p.m. the steamer left the whirf and proceeded to the anchorage, whan the Customs authorities and ship’s agents made an examination of the passengers, the former with a vLw to ascertaining whether the vess 1 was overcrowded, and the to sse that tfcer.) were no s'ovawaya on board. There were about 30.0 persona on the wharf, and cheers were exchanged as the steamer moved away. The Triumph is not ex; ecled to get away until late to-night. The it «amer Taoism, which is expected to arrive here from Foo Chow to-morrow night, leaves for Kimberley on Saturday next.
