ANOTHER SHIPWRECK
ll* HR HW ASSOCIATION. 1 Gketmouth, Jnly 4. The steamer Wallabi went ashore last night, about half a mile north of the entrance. She went oat about eleven o’clock. A thick fog wna on the river at the time, but the signal lights could be seen above it. The sea was irregular—alternate heavy rollers and tolerably smooth seas. After getting outside, the Wallabi met a succession of heavy seas, which were hid by the fog. The first one she negotiated successfully, but being followed by four or five others she could make no headway, aoft was finally landed high and dry by a heavy sea without striking. Previous to the moment she struck some of the sailers jumped ashore and mtde her fast. She now lies oat of reach of all but unusually high seas. Shs is insured for £IOOO in the New Zealand, and, it is thought, also for £3OO in Victoria. She could be easily floated through the lagoon except for the Northern Harbor works. To launch her along the crown of the beach will be a more expensive job. The Wallabi is loaded with coal.
