[REUTER’S TELEGRAMS—COPYRIGHT. ] The Revenue. Melbourne, Yesterday. The Victorian yearly revenue returns are published to-day. The total revenue for the twelve months ending June 30 is L 6,290,000, being an increase on the preceding year of 1.356,000. Among the departments showing increases are the Customs, Li 50,000; excise, L6,ooo; railway, Lr 21,000. The total revenue has exceeded the Treasurer’s estimate by L 3 26,000.
Bank Bobbery. The examination of the Simpson’s road Bank robbers was concluded yesterday, when the prisoners were all committed for trial at the July criminal sessions, bail being refused. Gold. A syndicate, in which the shares are fully subscribed, has been formed for the purpose of equipping and despatching an expedition to New Guinea in search of gold, of which several excellent specimens were brought from the island by Mr Kelly, of the recent Age New Guinea expedition. Ike Revenue. Adelaide, Yesterday. The South Australian revenue returns give a total revenue for the past year as La,150,000, or Layijooo below the estimated amount. The Customs duties show a decrease of Li 09,000. The Premier, Mr Downer, in his statement, announced that the deficiency of revenue below the expenditure was La 56,000, and the actual deficit at the end of Jhe financial year, Lyoojooo.
