To all to whom these presents shall come, Donald McLean late of New Plymouth now of Wellington Land Commissioner sends greetings. Whereas the said Donald McLean is possessed of certain lands in the district of Taranaki and situated on the South bank of the Waiwakaio river estimated to contain about twenty acres and at present held in lease by Gudgeon, and he is desirous of appointing an Agent in the said district to act for him in the receiving of rents and in the leasing managing or disposing of the said lands and to invest him with the powers and authorities hereinafter mentioned. Now therefore know ye and these present witness that the said Donald McLean hath nominated constituted and appointed and by these presents doth nominate constitute and appoint and in his place and stead put and depute Peter Wilson Esq., J.P, Colonial Surgeon, New Plymouth, to be his true and lawful Attorney for him and in his name to take a surrender of the lease presently held by the said Gudgeon to demise or to lease or to contract with with any person or persons for the demising and leasing the said lands and premises hereinbefore mentioned with their appurtenances in whole or in parts or parcels for any term not exceeding twenty one years and on such terms and conditions as he shall think: fit and also to sell and agree for the absolute sale of the freehold of and inheritance of and in the premises so demised to and with any lesee or lessees thereof at any period during the term granted or agreed for by any lease or contract made by him and for him the said Donald McLean to execute any lease or leases contracts or agreements for granting any leases and with or without power to purchase the freehold or inheritance of the said lands or any part or parts thereof and also to give discharges for any rent or rents now due or that may hereafter become due for the same and for any purchase money or other monies or damages which have become due or may become payable to the said Donald McLean and also upon non payment of any rents which may be now due and owing in respect of the aforesaid lands premises to distrain for the same and to bring commence and carry on and prosecute and at his discretion suspend and discontinue any action suit or other proceeding whatsoever for the recovery and compelling the payment thereof and also of any other money which may become due or payable to him, and also to take and use all such other lawful ways and means for the recovery receiving obtaining getting possession of and under any power of ventry or otherwise and for defending and protecting any of the aforesaid lands and premises as may be requisite and necessary and also in his name to do sign and execute all and every other matter and things deeds conveyances or assurances which shall be requisite or necessary to perfect their title to such lands and heriditaments agreed to be sold and to convey and confirm the same unto the respective purchasers thereof and the said Donald McLean doth hereby grant to the said Peter Wilson all such further power and authority as may be necessary to enable him to carry into effect the objects and purposes aforesaid as fully and effectually as if the said Donald McLean was personally present and whatever the said Peter Wilson shall lawfully do or cause to be done in the premises the said Donald McLean doth hereby for himself his heir executors and administrators undertake to ratify and confirm.
