D.F.C. AWARDS

Official advice has been received by Air Headquarters, Wellington, that further awards have been made to New Zealand air personnel serving overseas. They are as follows:—

Pilot Officer Gordon William Brewer. R.N.Z.A.F., awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. Next-of-kin: Mr. W. Brewer, Papatoetoe (f.).

Acting Flight Lieutenant Geoffrey Charles Russell . Pannell, R.N.Z.A.F.. awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. Next-of-kin: Mr. C. Pannell. Springston (f.).

Pilot Officer Brewer was born at Hikitahi in May, 1915, and was educated at Hamilton Technical College. After training in New Zealand he received his commission as pilot officer in September, 1941.

Acting Flight Lieutenant Pannell was born at Christchurch in August, 1913, and was educated at Waitaki Boys' High School. He was provisionally accepted for a short-service commission in July, 1939, but when this scheme was suspended at the outbreak of war he commenced training with the Royal New Zealand Air Force in December. 1939.
