GROUNDING ON BAR
MOTOR VESSEL HOKITIKA

GREYMOUTH, September 27.
The motor vessel Hokitika,. when en* tering the port on Saturday: evening at Hokitika, found the .channel most difficult to negotiate and grounded. Her bow stuck for some time. How** ever, the expert- seamanship of, Captain Nalder enabled the .vessel ?to be manoeuvred seaward, despite the Steering gear havingjammed. At the third attempt Captain Nalder succeeded in negotiating the bar and reached the1 wharf safely. , ' The vessel's only damage is to a propeller blade, due to contact with the) shingle when being freed after grounding. . '
