Mrs. R. Stewart, of Oorge Street, 1 onsonby, lias received advice that her son, Pte. Roderick Stewart, of the thirty-seventh reinforcements, died of wounds on October 27. Ptp. Stewart was an apprentice shipwright, havinir served both with the Union Shipping Co. and Mr. Charles Bailey, jun. He was a native of Scotland, and 'was a lad of fine phyeique. fiunncr J. E. F. (Ted) Bnckland, who was attached to the Forty-sixth N.Z.F.A., died from pneumonia at Fcathersron Military Camp Hospital on Novemtwi 7. Born at Coromamlel in 1577, he was in Ins forty-second year. Ho was educated at Onehunga and Auckland Schools; was apprenticed to the engineering profession with the late Mr. R. H. Yeoman, later following hie calling with Beaney and Sons, and Dunn. .Smith, and Co (now A. and T. Bnrt, Ltd.), of this city. He joined as marine engineer the "service of the Union Steamship Co., by which Company he was engaged for 15 years, serving from tlie fourth to chief' enjineer on the well-known steamers Ovalau. Maimpouri, the ill-fated Waikare and Penguin, and the Kamona, Kittawa, Arahura and Monowai. ITe was nfterward* appointed Government Inspector of Machinery nnd Surveyor of Ships in the Southland District, with headquarters at Invercargill, in ■which oflieial capacity he f acted for over five years. He entered camp in May last with the Forty./irst Southland detachment, but having a knowledge of gunnery, gained from eight years' previous experience with the" Ponlsonbv Naval Artillery Volunteers (portion of which time he was under the command of the present Officer Commanding tho Auckland Military District, Colonel G. W. S. Patterson), he was transferred to the Forty -sixth N.Z.F.A., actin? with his extensive engineering knowledge in the capacity of litter in the armament repair shop. He (was a nienrlwr of tho Australasian Institute of Marine Engineers and of the Masonic fraternity. He was the elder son of old colonists* John and Ellen .Ruck land, Xo. 8 Cooper (late ■Russell) Street, Arch Hill., and only brother of J. Harold Biwkland, warehouse manager for A. and T. Hurt, Ltd.. Auckland. He was married in 1907 to M ; 6a Ellen (Nell) Cashman, of Port Chalmers. His unassuming and genial manner endeared him to a very large circle of acquaintances, which was reflected in the number of floral emblems and expressions of sympathy tendered to his widow, parents, sisters, and brother. His remains were railed to Auckland, the interment taking place at Purewa Cemetery— the pall-bearers being the Inspectors of Machinery attached to the Auckland District Office, all former associates with him in the Union Steamship Company.

PRIVATE G. W. O'CONNOR. Private advice was received on Friday by Airs. C. O'Connor, of Omahu Road, Remucra., that her only son (Private Graham Waketield O'Connor) died. of bronchitis on November 9th at the New Zealand General Hospital, Codford. He was severely wounded in France, was for several months at Brockenhurst Hospital, and then at Hornehurch, whence he proceeded to Codford. Hγ was educated at the Auckland Boys' Grammar School, and was then apprenticed to A. and T. Burt, Ltd., engineers. Having just completed his apprenticeship and paesed his third marine engineer's examination, he at once proceeded to camp, and left New Zealand with the 30th Reinforcements. He was the only great-grandson of Edward Gibbon Wakcfinld, one of the founders of New Zealand.
