POLICE COURT.

(Before Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M.) DRTTNKErrNTESS. Two first-offenders were fined 5/ each, one of them being prohibited by consent. FRESH START AT 64. Henry Boyson (C 4), who had been remanded for a week on a charge of vagrancy in order that he might be cleaned up, appeared fresh and fragrant, and with a written statement to the effect that he had recently fallen heir to a legacy of £1500, of which he had drawn £200 by cable. He admitted that just prior to his arrest he had got on the spree, spent all hie money, exchanged his new clothes for the frayed garments of a second-hand shop, and some cash to boot, and to booze. He had been sufficiently long at the irreducible minimum to develop the penetrating aura of the vagrant when a constable's si'iise of smell was offended. He now registered a vow that he was done with the old life.

Remarking that the old life of 64 years had included 03 convictions of Horts, arising from drunkenness, his Worship decided to open Boyson's new era with another conviction (to square with his age), a prohibition order (a* a preventive), and an order to quit the city (as a stimulant).
