SOLDIERS ENTERTAINED
120 Attend Sunday Tea At Y.M.C.A. A happy gathering was held in the lounge of the Wellington Y.M.C.A. on Sunday last when nearly 120 soldiers assembled for the usual Sunday evening tea. The hostesses for the evening were members of the Social Progress Movement, under the leadership of the acting-president, Mrs. J. Bennie.. Mr. J. W. McKeon, who was accompanied by Mrs. McKeon, presided. He welcomed the men, and said he was glad to see that so many availed them- | selves of the hospitality extended to | them every week. Private E. Booth expressed the thanks and appreciation of members of the third echelon for the hospital- j ity that had been extended to them j each week. Many of the men had ■ been every Sunday since they had been in camp, he said, and they would like , to express to those who- gave up their \ time every Sunday to entertain them their appreciation for all that had been done. They specially wanted to thank members of the women’s auxiliary, who organized the teas and who worked behind the scenes to make them such a success. The memory of the happy times they had spent would remain with them while they were away, and they would not fail to avail themselves of the facilities offered by the Y.M.C.A. when they > were overseas? . Vocal solos were given by Mrs. D. Gamble and Mr. L. Hopkins, with Miss Nola Pritchard as accompanist. A community sing, led by Mr. Hindle and accompanied by Mr. Mann, was entered into with enthusiasm, and three cheers and musical honours for the hostesses and those who had come to entertain them ended a happy evening.
