DORSET A v. EXAMINATION B.

(Contributed by G. E. Murdoch, , Exam. Battery) Dorset A secured a convincing win oyer Examination B on Wednesday, 26th June. The teams were as follows:—■ Dorset (red and blue)Backs: Lennane, McAneney, Bowyer, A’Court, Mabin, Twohill, Fitzpatrick. Forwards: Mackie,- Jowett, Wilkins, McManus, Steel, Frederic, Simpson, Parkin. Examination (green and yellow) — Backs: Dooley, Adams, Vernon, McCleary, Wickham, Ornbetg, Richardson. Forwards: Mulholland, Knowles, Gannon, Griffiths, Hill, Woon, Beaumont, Randall.' After a short period of mid-field play Dorset rushed play to Exam, territory where Dooley relieved with a long liner. Vernon gained . further ground with a good run, but the Dorset forwards, with McManus and Frederic prominent,'swept upfield and the Exam, line was pressed hard until Beaumont dribbled well clear only, to find A’Court gain ground with a good kick. ' ;

From a scrum Fitzpatrick secured and after a dangerous run, crosskicked to the waiting Dorset forwards. McManus secured and went over for the first try which lennane converted. Dorset A 5, Exam. B 0.

Dorset forwards had by this, time asserted their superiority and when a breakdown occurred in the Exam, inside backs, Mabin pounced on the ball

and dived over. Lennane added the extras, making the half-time score: Dorset A 10, Exam. B 0.

.On resuming Dorset rushed play to Exam, territory, but Wickham, who was the pick of the Exam, backs, repeatedly relieved with long kicks. Exam, were compelled to force when Twohill kicked through nicely. From the drop out McManus passed to A’Court, who raced across in the corner, to make the score 13 —0 in Dorsets’ favour. McCleary and Dooley figured in some good saves for Exam, but Dorset kept up the pressure and soon afterwards McAneney used his speed to score under the posts. Dorset

the last-named to cross for his second try. Lennane added the major points, making the score: Dorset 21, Exam. 0. Wickham and Hill worked hard for Exam, but Dorset forwards had the game well under control and Steel, Jowett and McManus were prominent in a dribbling rush from which Fitzpatrick booted through to score, and after Lennane had again added the major points, the game closed with the final score: Dorset 26, Exam. 0. L/Bdr. G. Beveridge. carried the whistle.
