MEDALS PRESENTED

Men of the Achilles At the conclusion of the speeches in Wellington on Saturday last at the parade of the 2nd Echelon, his Excellency announced that he had been commanded by His Majesty the King to present medals to four members of the crew of the Achilles for conspicuous service in the battle with the pocket-battleship Graf Spee off the River Plate. The recipients were: SurgeonLieutenant Hunter, who was awarded the D.S.C.; Chief Petty Officer Boniface, D.S.M.; Pettyy Officer Maycock, D.S.M.; and Petty Officer Hadon, D.S.M. As his name was called each man stepped forward to the dais and his Excellency pinned the medal on the lapel of his jacket and congratulated him.
