Commissions Granted LONDON, November 7. Temporary commissions in the R.N.Z.N.V.R. have been granted to the following :—Sub-Lieutenants : 11. E. Creasey, Nelson; A. V. Kempthorne, Dunedin; R. T. C. D. Lambert, Wellington ; P. W. Wilson, Hastings ; S. F. Mercer, Napier; and F. V. Reid. A. G. Grimson, of Auckland, has been promoted lieutenant. . Temporary commissions in the I jeet Air Arm have been granted to Sub-Lieu-tenants W. S. Donnelly, Levin; A. Green and R. W. Murray, Gisborne; M. L. Heath, Nelson; R. M. Mansen, Wanganui; F. A. Howell, Wellington; A. S. Macleod, Taranaki; E. N. S. Bissett, Dunedin; A. 0. Masters, Stratford; F. G. Reid, Auckland; G. T. S. McLauchlin, Christchurch; P. T. Gifford, Hastings, E. G. King, New Plymouth; J. B. Godwin Blenheim; R. E. Cocklin, Invercargill ; R. Beaumont, K. J. Halligan, I. M. Fraser, A. B. Christie, N. Brynildsen, J. R. Chrisp, J. R. Adams, R. J. Wilson, and Midshipman W. E. Eastman, of New Plymouth.
During the Spanish War, General Franco and the Italian Military , Attache were looking out of a window to observe the advancing Italian Blackshirt battalions. Suddenly Franco exclaimed: “But they are fleeing!” The Duce’s envoy gave him a stern look and replied: “So they are. But they are fleeing like lions.”
