Formation In New Zealand REDESIGNATION OF UNITS — The formation of a New Zealand Armoured Corps is announced in last night’s Gazette. The existing designation of regiments of the New Zealand Mounted Rilles is abolished, and units are designated as follows; Canterbury Yeomanry Cavalry, to be the First Light Armoured Fighting Vehicle Regiment; Queen Alexandra's (Welling-ton-West Coast) Mounted Rifles, to be the Second; Auckland (East Coast) Mounted Rifles, to be the Third; Waikato Mounted Rilles to be the Fourth; Otago Mounted Rifles to be the Fifth; Manawatu Mounted Rifles to be the Sixth ; Wellington East Coast Mounted Rifles, to be the Ninth; Nelson-Marl-borough Mounted Rilles, to be the Tenth: and the North Auckland Mounted Rifles to be the Eleventh Light Armoured Fighting Vehicle Regiments respectively.
