CAUSE AND EFFECT.
“Splinter” was strangely enough, really tall ’ and thin, and when he lined up for his first meal after reaching camp the cook, who was as fat as a barrel, laughed at him. “Blimey, to look' at you anyone would think there’d been a bloomin’ famine, he said. “Yair!” drawled “Splinter,” and after lookin’ at you I can tell who caused it.”
