SOLDIER MISSING
Man From Trentham Camp
Hundreds of searchers have failed to discover any trace of Private Douglas Neil Henry, _ a soldier from Trentham mobilization camp, who has been miss jug near his home at Te Akau, Waikato, for more than four days. His disappearance is a mystery to his relatives, who have stated that they suspect foul play, but this view is not taken by the police.
Private Henry has been missing since Wednesday night when he left the house of a friend. His car was found on the road between Te Akau and Ruakiwi on Thursday morning with the front wheels in a ditch and the keys missing. It is thought that he might have received concussion. He was in excellent health when he was last seen.
Private .Henry was home on leave and was wearing battle dress. His father, Mr. S. E. Henry, Te Akau died three weeks ago. 'On Wednesday he appealed before the Hamilton Mai. power Committee in Ngaruawahia and was granted an extension of leave. The missing man is aged 22, single and of exceptional size, being 6ft. Gin. tall and weighing 16st.
Two hundred men, including territorials from'Ngaruawahia camp and Ngaruawahia and Raglan police, took part in the search on Friday and Saturday and an area within a' radius of four miles of where the car was found was thoroughly combed.
