ARMY AMBULANCE
Gift Of Wellington Firm For Use At Waiouru Equipped in the most modern style and intended for use in New Zealand only, an ambulance presented to the army by a Wellington firm was taken over by the military authorities yesterday afternoon. It will be sent next week to Waiouru military camp, where it will be used for conveying sick soldiers to hospital in Taihape. The ambulance, which was converted by the Post and Telegraph Department from an English truck chassis, is claimed to be the most up-to-date military ambulance in New Zealand. It accommodates four standard-size stretchers, two on each side of the van. When they are removed, leather-upholstered sponge rubber seats , can quickly be set in position to seat 10 men and a medical orderly. Features of the ambulance are its good springing, silent running and adequate ventilation and electric lighting. It is painted grey, with a red cross on each side, -a large one on theoof and a smaller one at such .an angle on the roof of the cab that it will be visible to aircraft diving on the vehicle from the front. The ambulance is the gift of the Maeder Toilet Salons, Wellington.
