Service Clubs At . " Weekend Mrs. Cameron, hostess,-and members of the St. Vincent de Paul Society, were on duty at the Catholic Services Club, Wellington, this weekend. The St., Vincent de Paul ladies’ auxiliaries donated all provisions for the weekend. Assisting Mrs. Cameron in preparing suppers and teas were Mesdames Stevens, Hastings, Compton, McClune, Misses Mary Peoples and Doreen Beasley. A donation of dance records from Mrs. A. Parker, Lower Hutt, and Miss Melville McGrath, is gratefully acknowledged. Ahiong girls who entertained were Misses Mary Blueman, Joan Parker, Yvonne Humphries, Jean Desmond, Damien Smith, Elsie Ness,
Rosalie Carr, Bernadine Corrigan, Patricia Brown-, Eileen O’Connor and Melville McGrath. British Sailors’ Society. Though primarily intended to cater for men of the sea, the British Sailors’ Society welcome any who are serving in the Forces, and this weekend saw navy blue, khaki, and air force blue uniforms mingling with men of the mercantile service. On Saturday a social evening was held. Tea was enjoyed on Sunday by many who had met on the previous day, after which all joined heartily in a short community sing. Mr. Jack Jeffries, Karori, spoke to the men, and an informal time of . conversation and friendship was brought to a close with supper. The Cinderella Club. Again during the weekend, many members of the Forces met at the Cinderella Club to avail themselves of the hospitality offered by the “Cinderellas.” The attendance was excellent, and though the majority of the members were present at the Fighting Services ‘‘Ball for All” on Saturday night, visitors were welcomed by the Misses Moyra Cawley, Shirley Seddon and Maisie Nicholls, who were the hostesses for the weekend. On Friday and Sunday nights, as an interlude to dancing, Aircraftman George Odell entertained with vocal solos. Y.W.C.A.’s Weekly Dance. In spite of many counter attractions on Saturday night there was a fair number at the weekly dance held by the Y.W.C.A. for the men of the Forces. Members of the Wellington East Girls’ College Parents’ Association ladies’ auxiliary- assisted on Saturday night, while the hostesses were Mesdames J. S. Martin, J. T. Holland, R. 'S. McInnes,' R. Gardner and Misses L. W. Bridgman. A. Rennie and Audrey Knox. There were piano interludes by Miss Beere. Mesdames- J. Robson and Thompson and Messrs. R. A. Martin, K. E. Thompson and W. J. Coventry assisted in the lounge. On Sunday the Rev. E. O. Sheild, Upper Hutt, gave a short address. The helpers for the evening were members of the Y.W.C.A. Business and Professional Women’s Club, together with the Y.W.C.A. Old Collegians League, Y.W.C.A. Residence, and Misses Oddey and Drake. The hostess was Mrs. J. T. Holland. The programme was arranged by Mr. Roy Hill and items were given by Mrs. Keys, Miss Christina Ormiston, Miss Monks, Miss Sealey and Messrs. Evan Tuckwell, Gardiner and Roy Hill.
