Promotions Of Officers
Changes in commissioned ranks of the armed forces are notified in the. Gazette issued last night.
Squadron Leader Cyril Eyton Kay, 0.8. E., D.F.C., is to be acting wingcommander. Acting Flight Lieutenant Trevor Owen Freeman, D.F.C., is to be -acting squadron leader.
Major C. E. Howden, M.R.C.S. (Eng.), L.R.C.P. (Lond. ), N.Z. Temp. Staff, is granted the rank of lieutenantcolonel while holding the appointment of senior medical officer of the mobilization camp, Papakura.
Appointments substantive, to the N.Z.E.F. areas follow: —
Headquarters Eighth Infantry Brigade group: Brigadier W. H. Cunningham, C.8.E., D. 5.0., V.D., to be commander. Major J. H. Irving, E.D., 29th Infantry (Mixed) Battalion, remains seconded while performing the duties of brigade major.
Major G. T. Kellaway, M.C., 30th Infantry (Mixed) Battalion, remains seconded while performing the duties of staff captain of the 36th Field Battery, N.Z.A.
Major C. H. Loughnan, M.C., 29th Infantry (Mixed) Battalion and 30th Infantry (Mixed) Battalion.
Lieutenant-Colonel J. B. Mawson, M.C., V.D., commanding officer 30th Infantry Battalion.
Lieutenant-Colonel H. J. Thompson, M.C., commanding 29th Infantry Battalion.
Major F. W. Voelcker, M.C., second in command, 30th Battalion. ? '
Major H. A. Pattullo, M.C., second in command, 29th Battalion..
Major M. Steele, company commander, 30th Battalion.
Army Service Corps: Major A. Craig, officer commanding the Fourth Composite Company.
Army Nursing Service: Sister (temp, matron). C. Li Th waites.
New Zealand Medical Corps: Lieu-tenant-Colonel P. C. Davie, officer commanding, Seventh Field Ambulance.
Eighteenth Army -Troops Company, New Zealand Engineers: Major (temp. Lieutenant-Colonel) E. R. McKillop .remains seconded for special duty. '■
New Zealand Ordnance Corps: Captain G. C. Simmiss, officer commanding M.T. Field ' Workshop.
Headquarters, 2nd New Zealand Expeditionary Force: Colonel Sir Stephen S. Allen, K.8.E., C.M.G., D. 5.0., V.D. (Reserve Officers), is appointed military secretary.
Staff H.M. New. Zealand Transports: Major A. S. Muir, 0.8. E., New Zealand temporary staff, is seconded for duty as ships’ quartermaster. * .
Lieutenant-Colonel D. H. W. H Donaldson, N.Z.S.C., is appointed General Staff Officer, first grade (Operations and Intelligence), Army Headquarters. .
