Camp Entertainers
Concert at Trentham Nine Hundred Men Present Nine hundred soldiers, and a number of officers and nurses, were entertained in the Salvation Army Hall at Trentham Camp on Wednesday night, the 14th inst., when another excellent concert programme arranged by the executive committee of the Official Camp Entertainers, was presented. The programme was given by the Repertory Concert Players, and was arranged and managed by Mr. Eric Harrison. It was a most entertaining and spectacular show, the numerous charming girls, tuneful musical numbers, and effective costumes making a “cocktail” of entertainment. The costumes were designed by Miss Valerie. Hickey and Mr. Maurice Hood. Mr. Colin Davidson was stage manager, arid the spotlights and electrical equipment were in the capable hands of Mr. Lindsay Arlow. The team work
was excellent, and each item was as popular as the last. • Miss Irene Spidy was a very versatile member of the company, as besides providing the humour, she played most -of the accompaniments. Those taking part were Misses Griffiths, Skerman, Maddock, Knox Gilmer, Armour (2), Kay, GreenfieldBrown, Kelly, Tyrack, Horton, Legge, Thodey, Haslam and Messrs. Lindsay Arlow, A. Ashley-Jones, and Eric Harrison. Music was supplied by Misses Lda Lockwood (violin), Perdue, G. Vickers (drums), and I. Spidy (piano). At the conclusion of the concert, Colonel McHugh thanked Mr. Eric Harrison and the members of the company on their excellent performance, cheers accompanied by musical honours being given by the men, after which all joined in the singing of the National Anthem. The members of she company were the guests of Colonel McHugh at supper, and Mr. Eric Harrison, in a short speech, thanked the O.C. for kindness and, hospitality the company had received. The executive wish to thank the members of the Repertory Society who drove performers out, and Mr. Geo. Swan, Mrs. Harold Murphy, and Miss Inger McLennan. .
