REGIONAL CONGRESS INTERNATIONAL BUREAU AGAINST ALCOHOLISM
The attention of members is drawn to the above Congress to be held in the Canberra Temperance Hotel, Brisb&ne, from October 14th to 23rd, 195 R. Temperance Societies, Churches k and interested groups throughout New Zealand are invited to be represented at this Congress. Railway return concessions are available in Australia and 20 per cent, tariff reduction at the Canberra Hotel. Railway
concessions for return fares are at single fare plus one third. Members who could attend this Congress at their own expense should write to the Recording Secretary, Mrs J. Atkins, 20 Aubrey Street, New Plymouth. Mr H. W Milner will be representing the N.Z. Alliance. Distinguished visitors to the Congress will be Dr Andrew Ivy of Illinois, U.S.A, who has been the recipient of many awards. Mr Arthur Tongue, 8.A., Executive Secretary and Director of the Bureau against Alcoholism and Professor William A. Scharffenberg, holder of many executive positions in Temperance bodies in U.S.A. The Congress will be of the greatest benefit to those attending and we hope some of our .own members may find it possible to attend. The initial hurdle to New Zealanders is the fare across the Tasman, but tbe boat fare works out cheaper than hy air. _ V .G.
