Whangarei, Auguet. Maori Day speaker was Mrs M. Malcolm, local Maori Welfaie Officer, who told o:' education, ulacenient, and housing, tht three main aspects of her work. It was a very interesting and informative address, supplemented by brief talk by Mrs Rangi Brown. President of the local Maori Women’s Welfare League. Members urged to take helpful interest in new Maori Centre being built in town. Sacred duet by the Maori members, Mesdames A. Marsh and E. Pitman. Temperance Quiz and Film discussed. Poll literature ard White Ribbon Special Fund donations forwarded.

Wellslord, July. Enjoyable meeting with visiting speaker Mrs W. Phillips from \\ arkworth, accompanied by Mrs Nelson, who sang with Mrs Phillips and also rendered i solo. A most interesting talk on Maori and pakeha life. Bunches of daphne presented to the guests. Roll Call—verst from Philippians. Bring and Buy for funds. Collection for Maori work.

Auckland District Executive, July 29th. A very enjoyable morning tea was held in the Tabernacle Hall to bid farewell to Mrs H. Kasper, M.8.E., who was leaving to attend the Australian W.C.T.U. Conference in Perth in August. Mrs A. T Richards presided and wished Mrs Kasper a happy journey and safe return, and presented her with a smal 1 gift and shoulder spray. Many of the members wished her journeying mercies and a posy o ( violets was presented by Mrs J. W. Long. Mrs Kasper replied with warm thanks for the gift and the function and wishes.

Auckland District Executice, August, with the President, Mrs Richards in the chair and conducting devotions. It was decided to assist with Joint Street Day Appeal for Hospital Auxiliary and Kindergarten Associa i in September, also with the sale of Health Stamps on r>e first day. Mrs Mount oy presented reports on the Mao.; Girls’ Hostel and the N.C.W. Miss H. Grigg reported that Temperance Quiz entries had reached a record this vear. Mrs Richards, Auckland Area of the Alliance delegate to the Dominion Annual Meetings, gave a concise refwrt ot these meetings, and also of the meeting of the 9 District Presidents with the Dominion Officers for one day. Henderson, July. Opening devotions. Mrs MacLeod read an article on Poland, brought by Mrs Platt, and members asked to pray for this country. The book "Six Mighty Men" was added to our W.C.T.U. library. Jars of jam brought for Maori Girls’ Hostel. Prayer asked that new Matron lie found for Hostel -an urgent need. Pulpit notices to be sent to newhousing area re our meetings. Poll leaflets to be obtained for distribution. Mrs Richards then addressed us, basing 1.-r talk on Nehemiah 6:3, giving a most enlightening and challenging address, urging the need for spiritual iqothers and fathers. Remuera, July, with Mrs Kelsey presiding. Members engaged in prayer. Recitation and song given oy Mrs Walters. Mrs Christopher of the Dist. Executive gave a very interesting, helpful talk. A letter of thanks for magazines sent to their hospital war read from Tonga. Arrangements made io raise funds for N.Z. Alliance work for coming poll. Onehunga, June. Successful School of Methods held here with Mrs H Kasper presiding. Other Unions attended this meeting. "White Ribbon” Day observed after lunch. Worki Convention episodes given by Miss Appleby concluded a very happy and profitable day. Takapuna, July. Mrs Prussing presided and Miss Cullen took devotions with Mr-. Parsons leading in Prayer. The guest speaker was Mr W. E. Roberts, a member of the Licensing Committee. "This,” said Mr Roberts, "is a year of activity, being polling year. We must educate the public to overcome their apathy regarding the great enemy with which we are dealing—the Liquor Traffic”. A donation was sent to the Alliance. The splendid efforts of Alcoholics Anonymous were discussed. St. Heliers. July. Meeting at Mrs Kasj>er’s home. Mrs Pearson led devotions. Memorial Dav observed and Mesdames Don, Taylor, Peryman and Miss Kirk remembered, as well as our own members, Mesdames Lediard, Lewis Eady, Gribble and Farr. Next two meetings at home of Mrs Phillips, m absence of Mrs fund. Miss Appleby gave an interesting talk on the last World Convention.

Tauranga, July .meeting addressed by Mrs Toonier, Dominion President, who was visiting the South Auckland District. A most stimulating talk urging the greatest activity possible in poll work, this bring a crucial test poll. Good attendance.

August meeting addressed by the Rev. I. Muir on the position of the Maori today and yesterday. Four years of ministry in the King Country had given the speaker firsthand knowledge. Gratitude expressed by president for very clear outline of events leading to the present situation. Delegates appointed for District Convention at Hamilton, September 17th. £5 more received for "White Ribbon” fund. Wanganui District Executive special meeting to arrange for visit of Mrs Toomer. Wanganui East, June. Annual social and Bring and Buy. Mrs R. Russ took devotions, speaking on "Contentment”. A moat enjoyable programme followed, comprising items irom St. Albans Methodist Ladies. Choir, violin solos by • Lieut. Carduelo, solo by Mr Russell Brown, and elocution, Mrs Strachan. The stall resulted in raising £l4. Brooklyn, June. One new member. Paper read on "How to Vote”. I)ecided to approach each local church women's organisations with the request that it be read at a meeting before the poll. Mrs Reed, Pres., spoke on the Young Abstainer.- League successfully launched in Palmerston North. Ministers Assoc, to be asked to appoint a member to organise a League in B-*x>klyn. A small Bring and Buy in aid of W.R. funds.

Christchurch Central, July, with Mrs I. Wilson in the chair. A most interesting meeting. Devotions led by Mrs H. A. Hunt reading from Phil. cn. 4. A pajier, "Ourselves and Our Neighbours” read, telling of the unconscious influence for pood or ill exerted by everyone. Mrs Angus reported on the N.C.W. meeting re the life of Dr Doris Gordon and the ]imposed memorial to her honour. An article on Alcoholics Anonymous read from Australian magazine "Woman's Day". Mrs Wilson read an article on the great work of I)r Reece in an English mental hospital where wonderful results were being obtained. Mrs J. McGregor and helpers served afternoon tea.

New Brighton. Devotions taken by Mrs Edmond, with Mrs Wrighton in the chair. Warm welcome extended to Mrs Griffiths, District President, our guest speaker, who dealt with several aspects of our work. Mental hospital patients had been visited by Mrs W righton and Mrs Aston. Spreydon. June, Mrs L. H. Woodcock presided and devotions led by Mrs H. L. Heec. Mrs G. W. Thomas gave a very interesting talk re the need for Children’s Homes. July. Devotions taken by Mrs Murray. Our meeting has suffered the loss of an aged member, Mrs Askell, members standing as a mark of esteem and remembrance. Donation to be sent to Funds. Each member contributed an item. Miss Brown closed with prayer. Riccarton, July. Miss Hughes led devotions—" God gives real hope and true faith". Letter from M.P. for Riccarton. Mr Connelly, saying he did not favour any move to extrtfi the hours of sale or to extend facilities for sale of liquor. Dist. Exec, report read. Miss F.. Gainsford to speak on Council of Christian Education in August. A letter to go to Miss Mabel Howard re the shortage of raisins. Decided to publish Temperance Facts in newspapers. Miss Hughes wrote to papers re Liquor advertisements. Sympathy expressed with Mesdames Sutherland and Murray in loss of their mother. Mrs Griffiths read the Convention Service iif Kemem'o. ranee.

Dunedin .South, July. A most interesting and informative talk was given by l)r Medlicott on the subject of Capital Punishment. Mrs E. Finery presided and members were entertained with a solo from Mrs Beamish. Miss R. Dewar conducted devotions.

Balclutha. July meeting presided over by Mrs Gill. Devotions were taken. Mrs Thomson read a paper prepared bv Mrs J. Hiett of Dunedin on the evils of the Liquor Trade, emphasising the need for young jieople to be total abstainers. Meeting closed with hymn and prayer.
