IN MEMORIAM.
Richmond mourns the loss of an old and valued member, Mrs. Elisabeth Chapman, nee Spicer, on the 26th of September. Born at Motueka 77 years ago, she lost her mother when about 10 years of age; kept house for her father and younger sister for some years. While quite young the family moved to Woodstock and there Lizzie joined, the blue ribbon band and was an enthusiastic member and life supporter of temperance. After settling in Richmond she joined the W.C.T.U. and gave the society loyal support for many years and when unable to walk came by service car to our meetings. The union placed a spray tied with white ribbon bow on the coffin. The Linwood Union mourns the loss of another dearly loved member. Miss Sylvia Vinicombe passed away suddenly on Friday, October 2nd, at her home, “Devon Tors.” Our hearts are heavy and we extend to her sorrowing sisters and brothers our tenderest sympathy it: their irreparable loss. A memorial service was held in the Shirley-Richmond Methodist Church prior to the cortege leaving for the Bromley Cemetery. Floral tributes were sent from our union and our president represented u* at the ceremony.
