REPORT OF MRS COWIE'S MISSION AT AUCKLAND.

July i st. —\\ elcornc luncheon (already reported). July 2nd to fith.- Met tings were held in Waihi, Karangahake, Waikino, and Paeroa, and although we have not the detailed account of the meetings, we have the testimony <»t .Mrs Cowie and Mr Brown (Secretary of Ohinemuri No-License League) lh.it tin*) were most successful, and that enthusiasm was aroused. July 7th. —A meeting was held at Henderson, when two members were added to the newly formed Cnion. July 9th. —Mrs Cowie and some of our officer- went to Birkenhead, where a new branch of the W.C.1.l . was organised. July loth. —Mrs Cowie gave an address at the Birkenhead Band of Hope meeting. July nth.—A special open-air meeting was arranged at the Grey Statue, when Mrs Cowie gave an address. A large crowd gathered, and were very interested. Questions were put and answered to their satisfaction by Mrs Cowie. Kach afternoon of the four Sundays Mrs Cowie was in our City she ad dressed a large crowd in the open-air at the wharf. July 14th.—Two meetings were held in Papakura. No report is yet to hand from there. July 15th. —Two meetings were held at Pukekohc. Work here was much appreciated. July lOth. —Two meetings were held at Onehunga, under the organisation of Rev. P. S. Smallfield, the Organiser for Manakau. Names were taken of ladies who desired to form a branch of the \Y .C.T.I . July 17.- An afternoon meeting was held at Otahuhu. Three new members were received. July 20. —Mrs Cowie went to Matakana, but again bad weather inter fined with the number-, b\i Mrs Cowie persuaded the men of the steamer and a hockey team to attend the meetii g, and a splendid meeting was the result. July 21st. A public meeting was held in the Auckland Tabernacle. A mock ballot was taken, which gave three informal votes per 100, showing .hat the Aui kland people know how to vote

July 22nd. —A special meeting of our own I'nion was held in the Lecture Hall of the Y.M.C.A., when 1 splendid number attended, and several new members wi re reieived. July 23rd. —An “At Home’* at Mrs l)r. Knight’s resident e in Epsom, at which Mrs Cowie gave an address on “Bible \\ ines.” July 28th. —The lecture, “The Brides of Many Nations/’ was given in ilie Fast Street Hall, and proved a great success. . July 29th. Mrs Cowie addressed the adult school 111 connection with tin- Society of Friends, and following that meeting, at the same place, we held our farewell meeting to Mrs Cowie. The hall was well filled, and a profitable time was spent. Afternoon tea was hanclid round. August 3rd. Mrs Cowie lef ♦ us for the South. Her mission among us hi- been a great success. We have reieived into fellowship 20 new members, and we are -ure that the result of thi- work will be felt at the ballot box.
