Organising Agent’s Report.

My F'ebruary work started in Brunner with the “Congress of Nations” on the Ist. The twenty-six girls who assisted gave their pieces creditably, the performance was appreciated, and our funds augmented by 7s. The following day our Union meeting was held, thirteen being present ; at the close an invitation was given to visitors to join the Union, and two of the three who wera not members did so. An effort is being made in Brunner to enlist a number of the Congress girls as members, and with their assistance the Union hopes to revive the local Band of Hope. Reefton was next visited. .Although I had only a few days to work in this lovely little town, the workers were so helpful that we had a most successful afternoon meeting in the President’s (Mrs Grigg) house, and eight ladies joined the Union and received die white bow. The “Congress of Nations,” which was also arranged with the Reefton girls, proved of great interest, our returns after expenses being £\ 10s. During the previous month a day's visiting had been done in Hokitika, and we were hopeful of re-organising in that little town. However, after a few days’

visit in February, it was found that, while we had there quite fifteen or sixteen ladies willing, indeed anxious, to have a Union formed and to take up work again, we had not among them any lady suitable or willing to take the office of President, so that our work was not advanced in Hokitika, beyond holding a public temperance meeting, and, perhaps, stirring up some little interest in temperance work generally. Leaving Hokitika I received a very warm welcome from our dear Blenheim sisters, and the latter part of the month has been spent among them, assisting generally in the work, also arranging the “Congress of Nations, ” which is to be given in Blenheim during Convention. Six new members have been received by this Union. During the past month or two my Sundays have been very much occupied by the various Churches. Agnes A. Hughes. Blenheim, March 5, 1904.
