Legal and Parliamentary Siiek intbndent. Our N. Z. President is not unmindful of the fact that the Legal and Parliamentary department work is at a standstill for lack of a superintendent. We understand that she is in correspondence with a iady deemed to Ik enuni ntly fitted for the position.
A Good Concmt oe (h kskLvts. — Speaking at the social held by the Christchurch Union on the 25th ult., Miss Kobetts said there was one prayer constantly on her lips as she went up and down the country —a prayer for the women, not for the men, they did not need it—and it was this: “ Lord, give these women a good conceit of themselves.’’ So many women, sa»d Miss Kolwrts, appeared to think they had no capacity for public work or duty of any description.
Mks De R. Newton.— We note from the programme of the B.W.T.A. Convention, held some weeks since, that Mrs I)e K Newton (Christchurch) was appointed as one >f the speakers at the World's Mist'tori/ meeting.
Napier Union.—As will be seen from the Union report, Napier has done good work in arranging for competitive essays on “The wisdom and equity of reducing as much as possible the temptations of the drink traffic.' From the first and second prize essays, which have been forward d to us, we hop*; at some future time to mike extracts.
