Daily— Matins 9 a.m.; Evensong 7.15 p.m. Holy Baptism, Churchings, arid Occasional Services as required. ■ For some weeks past the Sunday School scholars, assisted by the mem^ bers. of the Bible Class; had been making preparations "for "the production of the operetta " 80-TPeep," and a dramatised rendering of a Gipsy scene depicted m Marie Corelli's latest novel. The object m view was the raising of funds for the maintenance ■ bf' l '"a ' ri&tive'- lad* in" the ' Melahesia/» " Mission. A great deal of interest was evinced m the undertaking, so much so indeed that on the night of the performance the doors had been open but a few minutes when the schoolroom was packed to its utmost capa-
city. Shortly after half-past seven admission had to be refused. "BoPeep" proved a sweetly pretty entertainment, the singing and -dancing of thei children! betfng-, for. children, faultless. The Gipsy camp was very effectively staged, no pains having been spared' to present the idealistic conception of the life of the Romany Lad and the Romany Lass. The boys and girls acquitted themselves splendidly, some of the by-play being exceptionally good. In response to a general request the performance was repeated on the following Wednesday, when again the schoolroom was filled. ■The takings amounted to nearly £80.' The annual meeting of the parishioners , took place m St. Matthew's Schoolroom on the 25th July. The balance-sheet showed that the parish was making substantial progress. Ihe Vicar announced that owing to the rapid increase of parochial work he had engaged an assistant and appealed to the congregation to accept and discharge their increased responsibilities m the same spirit m which they had accomplished so much good work tn the past. A fuller report' will apX>ear next issue.
