WAERENGA-A-HIKA.
Vicar: The Rev. R. Hodgson, L.Th. The latest achievement m this parish has been a series of three concerts given by the children of the three Sunday Schools m Waerenga xa, Makaraka and Maka, uri. These were giyen m Waerenga-a-hika, Makaraka and Ormond and were very good and the children pleased everybody. The financial result was gratifying, £19 5s 6d being raised for the Makaraka Church Building Fund. We are. most grateful to the children (who fully enjoyed themselves), the accompanists and those who. conveyed the children. But the greatest credit and thanks are due to Miss H. Halbert and Mrs. Hodgson for their weeks of painstaking training of the children. The Church at Waerenga-a-hika is now being renovated and repainted. We observed our Patronal Festival (St. Luke) on November 19 and m the evening the Vicar and Rev. A. R. H. Morris exchanged and the latter preached an inspiring sermon to a good congregation, an# the boys of the Native College sang beautifully an anthem which was very much apsprecited and was a real act of worship and also a musical treat. We are most grateful to them and to the Headmaster, Mr. E. M. Laseron, who trained them to sing it. We are looking forward to the visit of our Bishop for Confirmation at 7.30 p.m. m St-. Luke's Church on November 30th.
