A MARTYRED PRIEST
Fuller report of the death of Father Leonard, a Roman Catholic priest m China, tells us that on the day before his martyrdom he was warned of .the approach of the bandits. Nevertheless, he went quietly about his, work, and was celebrating Mass m the early morn, ing when the bandits entered! the Church and dragged hini from .the altar. They tore off his vestments, beat him, and bound him. As he was dragged along he fell on hi s knees and prayed! for his murderers. This led to further violence, and m the encfhe was stabbed to death. Surely he, too, like S. Stephen, saw the heavens open and Jesus standing at the right hand of God.
