Otane.
Vicar: Rev. Q. W. Davidson.
The Bishop duly inducted the Rev. G. W. Davidson to the charge of the newly-formed parochial district of Otane, which, includes Te Aute, Eilsthorpe, Mangakuri, etc. The induction took place m the evening of the Feast of the Epiphany when a large congregation assembled from far and wide. A somewhat sad note was that it was the last visit of Bishop Averill as our own Bishop of Waiapu.| The Bishop did not mince matters, but gave a stirring address on the duties of congregation and pastor, reminding all that God so loved the world that He gave His best— His Son— so the Minister was to give his best, the people their best, and all were to take care that their minister did not have too much to do m the serving of tables. The Rev, J. W. Whibley acted as Bishop's Chaplain, and the Rev. Piri Munro read the special lesson, the newly inducted Vicar taking Evensong, Mr Clarke people's warden and Mv Warren representing the Minister's warden, Mr W. Williams who was away on account of sickness handed the keys to the Vicar and other mem-> bers of the Cotrmittee being present. The Bishop wus kindly taken home by Mr Warren to Te Aute, and Mr Clarke took Mr Davidson m. So commences what we hope will be a happy and useful ministry for Pastor and people for Christ and His Church. The Vicarage is very nice indeed and built so conveniently m order to minimise as much as possible the work of housekeeping. It is to be hoped that friends will rally round and subscribe liberally so as to have as ' little debt as possible. It is really an ideal Vicarage built on an ideal site. The Vicar is very pleased at his reception as far as he has been, and thankfully acknowledges the welcome and hospitality already shown. He hopes to bring his wife and family to the Vicarage somewhere about the 26th of January.
