Taradale.
Vicar : Jtev. A. P. Clarke. Lay Reader : Mr . McQutcheon. . The Vicar and his family returned from a most enjoyable holiday towards the end of January. The Vicar is most grateful to the Bishop, Archdeacons Ruddock and Uthwatt, and Eevs. F. Dunnage and W. T. Fraser, as well as Messrs. A. U% Pallott, W. Pallot, and xY. Burr, for supplying the services during his absence. ■ A useful -addition has been made to S. Thomas's Church, Meanee, m the shape of a belfry, ivneelers have also been placed m the same Church. The Sunday school prizes were distributed m the Parish Hall, Taradale, on Monday, 17th, February. Mr. E. McCutcheon gave out the prizes to the Meanee children on Wednesday, 12th Feb., when he spoke a few helpful words on "She hath done what she could." Mr. McOutcheon is leaving the parish to continue his studies at College House, Christchurch, after having worked most faithfully and devotedly m the parish for the past two years'. Parishioners wish him all happiness and success. Mr. McCutcheon was the recipient of a purse of sovereigns at Puketapu, Meanee, and Taradale. At the last named place the Vicar spoke eulogistically of his assistance to him m- the parish, and expressed the kindly feelings of the parishioners. He also spoke most highly of the good work done by Mrs. McCutcheon. Mr. McCutcheon returned thanks feelingly on behalf of himself and Mrs. McCutcheon. Mr. W. Harpham passed peacefully away during the Vicar's absence from the parish. Mr. Harpham was one of the oldest inhabitants of Taradale, and various members of his large family have been constant friends of the Church. and its work. Miss Lupy Dewis was married to Mr. Maurice Halliwell at All Saints' Church on Tuesday, 18th Feb. Miss Davis has been prominent m many
branches of Church work for several years. Mi\ Halliwell, also, has even . been ready to lend a helping hand.
