DANNEVIRKE.

The Dannevirke " Branch of the G.F.S. for the year 1912 opened on March 12th, after a vacation of three months. The Branch consists of 42 Members, 4 Senior Candidates, 10 Working Associates, and 11 Hon. Associates. Weekly meetings have been held every Tuesday evening, the attendance being very satisfactory. Classes have been held for dressmaking (9 girls, each having made one complete dress for herself), cookery, cake icing, glee singing, physical culture, sick-bed making, serviette folding, essay writing. Each evening ten minutes has been devoted to reading aloud G.F.S. literature. The Junior Candidates' Class is held every alternate Saturday, and the attendance is decidedly good, the little girls being very interested m their work. They knit, darn, sew, sing, drill, and are dressing dolls for a Mission Sale of Work. The Members' Annual Social was held on June 4th, and was a success. The Members' Committee (of 7) has been a great help m suggesting to the girls ideas, also for lighting the hall and fire, and providing the supper, for which each member pays id. A small library has been formed, which has been of benefit to the girls, 24 being subscribers at 6d., which is devoted to buying new books and papers. Two members have been married, the girls on these occasions giving '. a kitchen tea. Mr. W. F. Knight very kindly gave a donation of „£5, which has been banked for a Sick Fund,

„ It is proposed to hold an, Industrial Exhibition of Work the last meeting m November, consisting of all kinds of fancy work, plain sewing, darning, knitting, cooking, bread making and table decorating. A special prize is to be given for the best dressed doll, all dolls to be given to the Mission Sale of Work. A donation of 75. " 6d. has been sent to Dr. Barnardo's Home.
