Waipawa.

Vicar: Rev. H. P. Covxc, M.A. The Rev. H. Collier, who has been working m the parish for the last five years, first as student and latterly as assistant curate, has just left to take up work at Takapau. In the country districts he has visited most diligently, and made many friends. Before leaving, he was entertained at Mrs Dan Kittow's, Tamumu, and presented with a travelling rug and Thermos flask, also at Mrs Bargrove's, Argyll, where he received a handsome marble clock ; at Wakarara, gold sleeve links, Mid a pair of silver vases for Mrs Collier; at Waipawa, a Revised Bible and Concordance. At Elsthorpe a farewell social was arranged by the settlers, when Mr Tiffen presided, and handed to him a purse or sovereigns. Another

largely-attended farewell social was .held at Otane, at which the Vicar presided, and expressed his appreciatipn of Mr Collier's services. Mrs Megsori then presented a purse of sovereigns, subscribed to by the residents of Te Aute and Otane. Many kind remarks were made about Mrs Collier, who had travelled round with her husband, and gone m and out among the homes of the people. The Rev. J. T. Gunn also spoke some farewell words on behalf of the Presbyterians. It is fully expected that Mr and Mrs Collier will have a happy and prosperous time m Takapau, and it is hoped that sometimes Mr Collier will be able to exchange duties for a Sunday and once more conduct seiv vices m the parish where he received ordination. Until arrangements can be made for someone to fill his place, a number of "the services will be carried on by lay-* readers. The congregations wilL doubtless, show their appreciation of the kindness of these gentlemen by attending the services m large numbers.
