Extracts from Victoria Police Gazette.
(From Police Gazette 16th and 23rd February, 1875, pages 31 and 37.) William Dawson is charged on warrant with absconding from his bail to appear at the Central Criminal Court, Melbourne, on the 15th instant, to
answer a charge of arson. Description : A North of Ireland man, 40 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, medium build, dark complexion, hair, beard, whiskers, and moustache, dressed in dark tweed paget coat, dark trousers and vest, new elastic side boots, and white stiff low-crowned bat. Snivelling manner of speaking. His wife lives in 221 Bourkestreet West. 0. 857. 16th February, 1875. William Dawson’s sureties, John F. Bailey, and R. Iken, gaurantee a reward of £SO for his arrest. 0. 857. 18th February, 1875.
£lO REWARD. The above reward will be paid to any person who shall give information which will lead to the apprehension of Jonathan Iladfield, an absconding witness in the case of Regina versus Dogherty, or to any person who will make affidavit that the said Jonathan Hadfield has left the Colony.
