Stolen about a.m., the 30th October, 1863, from the dwelling-house of George Nelson, George Street, Dunedin, the street door being left open, a large open faced silver lever watch, No. 1421, with black silk guard and brass key attached, the property of Mr. Nelson.

Stolen , about 2 a.m. the Bth November, 1863, from the tent of C. W. Bell, T Potter’s Gully, Dunstan, four £5 notes, seven £1 notes, and 11 oz. of gold, one piece of the gold shaped like a heart, by James Burke, (who asked permission to stop in Bell’s tent with him for. the night, and left two hours before daylight,) about 32 years’ old, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, dark hair and complexion, slightly pock marked, light whiskers, chin and upper lip shaved ; dressed in blue woollen shirt, moleskin trousers, light felt hat, and

watertight hoots; a Sydney native, has the appearance of a stockman.

A warrant has been issued by the Dunstan Bench, dated 23rd October, 1863, for the apprehension of John Liddell alias Hobartown ■Jack, and Neil, charged with having had m then possession, at a place known as Dead Horse Gully, in the Dunstan Police District on the 10th October, 1863, the carcases of two •sheep, the same having been unlawfully obtained contrary to the 15th section of the Town and Country Police Ordinance. John Liddell alias LLobartown Jack, is about 40 years’ old, 5 feet 6£ inches high, fair complexion and hair, clean shaved, broad face, 'flat nose, nearly bald; dressed in blue guernsey, moleskin trousers, watertight boots, and tweed cap ; likely to have with him a large black and tan bull-terrier dog. dark hair, no whiskers, very small moustache, marks of a gun-shot wound on nose and over left eye; dressed in check shirt, moleskin trousers, and watertight boots.
