Mr. Michael O’Connor, of Seadown, recently received. intimation from the Minister of Defence that his son, Rifleman Thomas O’Connor, has been awarded the D.C.M. for gallantry in the field of*action. As a stretcher-bearer Rifleman O’Connor went out under a heavy gun fire and rescued many wounded comrades. He enlisted in the 21st Reinforcements, and has many friends in the Temuka district, especially in the local Hibernian Society, of which he was a member, who will be pleased to hear of his well-earned distinction. Rifleman O’Connor is a staunch and fervent Catholic, and has two sisters ,in St. Joseph's Convent;
