}!;.*• At the annual meeting of "the Banks Peninsula A. and P. Association, held: at Little River on Tuesday, week, a presentation was- made to Mr. T. r Quealy, late engineer and . clerk to • the - Wairewa | County Council. Mr. J. V. Chapman, chairman of . the Council, -stated that they all knew Mr. : Quealy as - a 'capable and trustworthy worker "in | the interests of the district. '- It was largely due to f his ! efforts that ’ 1 the splendid Awa”lti Domain was secured for the people of Little River. He had much' pleasure in asking Mr. J. Or r; Coop, as the oldest member of the council, to make-the presentation. Mr. Coop stated that in the old Road Board days he had worked with Mr. Quealy, whose services 5 to the district had extended over a term ’of 38- years, - and who during this long period had never missed;A meeting. It had been largely due to his efforts that the Waihora Park at Motukarara and the Domains at Kaituna and Little River had been obtained. - He had : also served in an honorary capacity as secretary to the Akaroa Racing Club, and 'as ?. secretary of various patriotic societies. When' Mr. Quealy. was first appointed engineer 1 there '• was " hardly a good road in the district, but, as they all knew, this was not the case how. He had much • pleasure in asking Mr. Quealy to accept an illuminated address from ratepayers and friends in the district in recognition of his valuable services. Mr. W. F. Parkinson stated that he had known Mr. Quealy for about 40 years, and had a high opinion of his capabilities. He hoped that his activities in the interests of the district would continue for many years. Mr. J. F. Buchanan said that he would also like to add his tribute to Mr. Quealy ’s long and faithful services. He had known him for many years, and was much indebted to him for assistance in many ways. He hoped their friend would long enjoy the respect which he had earned. Messrs. T. Thompson, H. T. Chapman, J. Johnson, F. Coop, G. Barclay- T. White,' jun., and W Jacobson endorsed the remarks of the previous speakers. Mr. Quealy suitably responded.
