(From our own correspondent.) April 22. The mission conducted by Very Rev. Father Roche and Rev. Father O’Sullivan, of "the Redemptorist Order, during the past fortnight has been a most successful one. All the exercises have been very well attended, extra seating accommodation having to be provided for the large numbers who attended each evening to hear the eloquent and impressive discourses given by the missioners on the great truths of salvation, and the doctrines of our holy faith. It' was truly an edifying sight to see the large congregations each morning at the 6 and 9 o’clock Masses, and many hundreds apprqached the Holy Table daily. Thursday evening of the first week was devoted to a solemn celebration in honor of the Blessed Sacrament, and Friday evening of the second week to one in honor of our Lady. Special sermons were preached on both occasions, and after the sermon on Friday evening the whole parish was solemnly consecrated to the Blessed Virgin. On Saturday morning Mass was celebrated for the repose of the souls of all who have fallen in t]ie Avar, especially for the young men of the parish, and a general Communion of all present was also offered for that intention. On Sunday . morning at the early Masses practically every member of the congregation approached »the Tloly Table. In the evening at 7 o clock the mission was brought to a close, when the spacious building was taxed to its utmost to hold the large congregation that assembled. Very Rev. Father Roche preached the closing sermon on “Final Perseverance,” and on the necessary means to obtain that end. Alter the sermon he imparted the Papal Blessing and gave Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament. The mission ers are very pleased with the success of the mission, and count it as among the most successful ever preached by them in any parish. „ On Sunday morning at the 10.30 Mass, Rev. Father O’Sullivan commenced a week’s mission in the St. Andrews portion of the parish. - - •
