DEATH OF FATHER TORMEY

We extend our sincere sympathy to his Lordship Bishop Cleary and the clergy of the diocese of Auckland on the loss sustained by the death of Rev. Father Michael Tormey, pastor of the parish of Ellerslie, who died suddenly through heart failure on Monday morning. Father Tormey was ordained 15 years ago at Thurles College, Ireland, and came to New Zealand shortly afterwards, during the episcopate of the late Bishop Lenihan. He was many years assistant priest at St. Benedict's, Newton.' A few years ago he was appointed to the charge of Ellerslie, where he was very popular among all classes arid much beloved by his parishioners.—lt.LP.
