Ngaruawahla
(From an occasional correspondent.) July 8. The annual basket-social in aid of the Catholic church funds was held in the Town Hall, Ngaruawahia on June 20. The auction sale was ably conducted by our local auctioneer, Mr. DeMontalk, to whom the success of the sale is due. Bidding was keen throughout, the highest basket realising ,£3. Dancing, songs, and recitations, helped to pass a very pleasant evening. The proceeds of the social amounted to £56.
