Invercargill

(From our own correspondent.) At the half-yearly meeting of the local branch of the H.A.C.B. Society, there was a very good attendance of members. The officers for the ensuing six months were duly initiated by the retiring president, Bro. T. McGrath. The result of the election of officers was as follows;—President, Bro. G. Payne; vice-president, Bro. W. Barry; warden, Bro. Minogue; guardian, Bro. W. McDonough; sick visitors, Bros. A. Fitzgerald and F. Pritchard. After the officers had briefly returned thanks for the confidence reposed in them, Bro. Rev. Father Woods congratulated Bro. McGrath upon the completion of his term of office as president— term that had been a successful one for the society. The retiring president, he said, had conducted the affairs of the society well, and bad- in the words of the charge to which all Hibernians subscribe, been lenient in condemnation and charitable in judgment. He commended the example of the past president as a guide to the incoming officers.
